The Izaak Walton League of America is one of the Nation's Leading Non-Profit Conservation Organizations. Founded in 1922, IWLA focuses its attention nationwide on specific problems in conservation, such as, protection of clean water & wetlands, clean air, responsible outdoor recreation, energy efficiency and issues of interest to people who enjoy the outdoors.The league has thousands of supporters nationwide, with more than 300 Chapters.
The Mart began in 1698 at the close of the Colonial-Indian campaigns. As a part of the peace plan, the Colonials and the Indians agreed to conduct annual marts for the exchange of goods and the trading of dogs and furs. Hence the term, " Dog Mart " !
